Out Of my comfort zone-revisited
I finally got the book delivered to me today; took long enough to get here, but I wasn't about to let that, or the fact that I am now buried under a huge pile of work, dampen my enthusiasm. After all, late nights to make up for the work are also exciting:-)
Anyway, simply put, this is the best cricket book I've ever read, and considering I've read more than a fair share( Zed, Sandy Storm, Marshall Arts, all of Gavaskar's, Boycott's, Bradman's best, two on Warney, two on Junior, a couple of Tugga's diaries), that's saying a bit. Steve Waugh is brutally honest to himself and his readers and helps one break away from their impression of him as a serious and sometimes self absorbed cricketer. The book is laced with the wit and humor that made him a past master of the sledging game and contains unbelievably funny anecdotes from his personal and professional life. And maybe, given where I stand in life today, it's just the inspiration I need.
P.S.: Lynette's take on her husband in the concluding part of the book is particularly poignant, as well as funny, and some of the parts had me quietly smiling to myself.
PK: Don't miss this book. Buy it.
Minu: You do the same
Mangesh: You're an idiot

Read it, read it! :D It's a wonderful insight into a top sportsman, and wonderful guy!
saale itne saare books pade hai, mujhe ek bhi nahi diya. Dont say i read these books before we met or something of tht sort. Zed n sunny n macko ka pada rahega pehle tune but I distinctly remember askin u for Warnie's n Jr's autobiography/biography just abt 3-4 mnths b4 u lft for US, n tune mujhe diya nahi.
At time i was not a working, salaried person n was just about to enter my student life n yet u refused to give me those books to read.
Saala kameena, n in the words of some moron i know, "mera koi dost nahi"

Cousin ke the bola na tujhe, he told me not to give them out...
Dude, what the hell was that last line all about!!!!
U know, i called PK yest (before i read this blog) and was telling him abt how i was in a bookstore yest and picked up OOMCZ and glanced thru it... i almost was gonna buy it, cos its just 800 bucks. I told PK to get it cos it aint all that expensive. Anyways i decided to hold on, till at least the genuine lovers read it. I will get it n read it too... not for improving my cricket-knowledge, but maybe to get to know the great man!
The next time you are coming to India get the book along with you,I am not sure I wanna buy it, got a lot of books left to be read at home. If its in a soft format you can mail it to me.

he is one kanjoos when it comes to giving out books to read.
He bought Bradman's Best and The rise and fall of their reich and kept harping about it to me and refused to lend it!
Pk i sympathise with you...
Btw you still have my Collin's dictionary wit you that i lent you 5 years back!
@Mangesh: Sorry mate, that was in reference to your Waughtobiography, anyway glad you got it right:-)
@Minu: Cmon don't make me look so bad.
@Roopa: It's a hard copy. Will get it when I reurn, although I have not the faintest clue when that's going to be. I will strongly and actively discourage any piracy of this book btw, don't want Tugga to lose out on his due:-)Btw, why did u want info on 12 pulse rectifiers? And did I help?
Dude, "Waughtobiography" was funny.. hahaha!!! Admit it man, so what if it didnt come from you!!!And i shall buy it once PK does!
PK - No need to return to minu, i borrowed the DSP book (Proakis) from here some 5 yrs ago too and she never asked me to return! ;-) Not that she needs it anyways!
@PK:You guys take me for granted!!! PK return my Proakis when we meet next. Yeah I don't need it but atleast I'll ahve my book back;-) Honestly I don't even remember lending it to you;-) That Mangi always took a lot of engg. study books!
@Mangi: My hubby too thought your 'Waughtobiography' was a nice crack! I did not though;-) Don't hurt Tugga's sentiments :-)
Tugga is mental, screw his sentiments!
minu tai decide!!! mere paas tera Collins hai ki Proakis? i dnt remember borrowin any book from u, but tu bolti hai to hoga. but i defi didnt borrow any DSP ka book.. n dictionary to mere ghar pe dus pada hai, fhir maine tere se dictionary kyu liya, woh bhi engg mein. i dnt knw. sochna padega. anyway mera univ ka exams chal raha hai main utjhe baad mein call karta hoon.
bye.

What a bunch of morons; I think no one actually bothers to read carefully; I have Minal's Collins and Mangesh her Proakis.
@Tugga: We are so enlightened to have you crack the mystery for us. As I said Mangi always borrowed my engg. books, so PK must have borrowed mine from him!
Anyways I care less for the Proakis but I do care for my Collin's. When do you plan to return it?
Minal- U DO NOT DESERVE Proakis! U shud be punshied for saying that about that bible of a book, ki u dont care about it!
Hehehe.. doesnt that make me sound like a DSP pundit who worships Proakis more than Saurabh does it a la Waugh! ;-)
Mangi you are the one who pursued Electrical Engg. not me. So it's obvious Proakis was God for you. Continue with the obession!
But obsession to Waugh makes for better reading for us mortal folks than your obsession for Proakis;-)
Boy am I awaiting the day you begin to blog;-)
That's it.. I am now convinced I am surrounded by the most shallow bunch of friends who comment on my inane posts but not on my serious ones....
And Minal, which part of the word S A R C A S M do you not get?
@Tugga: Same question to you
